EcoFlow STREAM AC 5000 vs Zendure SolarFlow Mix AC+

EcoFlow STREAM AC 5000 vs Zendure SolarFlow Mix AC+

The EcoFlow STREAM AC 5000 and Zendure SolarFlow Mix AC+ models are AC-coupled home batteries, but they prioritise different needs. EcoFlow starts at about 5 kWh and provides a 0 ms UPS output. Zendure’s 3000 and 4000 Mix AC+ start at 8 kWh per unit, with the 4000 offering substantially more expansion potential.

The right choice therefore depends on more than the brand. Consider daily surplus, charge and discharge power, backup use and future expansion. Start with our home battery calculator for a capacity indication.

EcoFlow STREAM AC 5000: compact start and fast UPS

The EcoFlow STREAM AC 5000 stores 5.024 kWh and provides up to 3,000 W AC input and output. It is relevant when about 5 kWh matches your daily surplus and evening consumption, or when you want to start compactly and add one or two expansion batteries later.

EcoFlow specifies a 0 ms transfer time for the UPS outlet. This applies to compatible equipment connected to that output; it does not automatically provide whole-home backup.

The AC 5000 has no direct MPPT input. Existing solar panels continue to operate through their inverter and the battery exchanges energy on the AC side.

Zendure 3000 Mix AC+: more storage in one plug-in unit

The Zendure SolarFlow 3000 Mix AC+ offers 8 kWh per unit and up to 3 kW grid-connected AC output. Its base unit therefore stores more than one EcoFlow AC 5000. Zendure’s official support information positions the 3000 series as a plug-in configuration and says it is not intended for hard wiring.

It suits households that can use roughly 8 kWh but do not need a very large modular bank. Zendure specifies a 10 ms UPS transfer. As with EcoFlow, backup is available only through the intended output and configuration.

Zendure 4000 Mix AC+: power and room to expand

The Zendure SolarFlow 4000 Mix AC+ combines 8 kWh with up to 4 kW bidirectional AC power. Zendure specifies expansion up to 50 kWh. It is the more relevant option for larger storage plans or higher simultaneous loads.

A standard socket does not automatically make full product power available. Higher-power use may require a suitable fixed connection. Ask a qualified electrician to assess the distribution board, wiring and protection.

Which model suits which situation?

Choose EcoFlow STREAM AC 5000 when:

  • about 5 kWh is a suitable first step;
  • a 0 ms UPS output matters for selected connected equipment;
  • expansion to 15 kWh within one base unit and expansions is sufficient;
  • you already use EcoFlow and prefer one ecosystem.

Choose Zendure 3000 Mix AC+ when:

  • you want 8 kWh in one unit;
  • up to 3 kW grid-connected output suits your use;
  • you want a plug-in configuration without major expansion plans;
  • a 10 ms UPS transfer is acceptable for your equipment.

Choose Zendure 4000 Mix AC+ when:

  • up to 4 kW bidirectional AC power matters;
  • you may expand beyond 15 kWh;
  • an appropriate fixed installation is possible;
  • an AC-coupled PV inverter is part of the system design.

P1, Wi-Fi and control matter

Practical performance depends heavily on reliable measurement and control. The P1 meter or energy meter must report household use and grid export correctly. Wi-Fi coverage, 2.4 GHz support, Bluetooth permissions during setup and correct app settings all matter. Read our P1, Wi-Fi and app checklist before installation.

Assess costs honestly

A larger battery is not automatically financially better. Storage that is rarely filled or emptied adds less value. Electricity prices, export compensation, dynamic tariffs, system losses and seasonal use influence the result. The Dutch net metering scheme is scheduled to end on 1 January 2027, but a personal calculation remains essential.

Do not rely on guaranteed savings or payback. Compare usable capacity, power, installation costs, warranty conditions and the number of cycles you realistically expect.

Conclusion

EcoFlow STREAM AC 5000 is the compact 5.024 kWh choice with a fast UPS output. Zendure 3000 Mix AC+ provides more storage in one plug-in unit. Zendure 4000 Mix AC+ offers the most power and expansion scope, but may place greater demands on the installation.
