The Lunergy BP5200 Expansion Battery is a modular lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) energy storage unit designed to expand the capacity of the Lunergy Hub 2400 AC. It functions as an additional storage module that increases the total usable energy available for self-consumption of solar power, backup power supply, and energy cost optimization. By connecting one or more BP5200 units to a compatible Lunergy hub or base battery system, you can scale storage capacity according to your energy usage and future needs without replacing the existing installation.
The BP5200 stores electrical energy generated by solar panels or drawn from the grid during low-tariff periods and makes that energy available when demand is higher or when grid power is unavailable. This allows users to reduce reliance on the grid, increase self-consumption of renewable energy, and maintain power to essential appliances during outages when used in a system configured for backup functionality. The battery management system (BMS) continuously monitors temperature, voltage, and current to ensure safe and stable operation, balancing the cells internally to maximize lifespan and performance.
The expansion battery is built using lithium iron phosphate chemistry, known for its thermal stability, long cycle life, and high safety standards compared to traditional lithium-ion technologies. Its modular design enables straightforward installation in residential environments, including utility rooms, garages, and technical spaces. Multiple BP5200 units can be stacked or connected in parallel to increase total storage capacity, making the system suitable for both average households and higher-consumption homes. The enclosure is designed for durability and indoor installation, with integrated safety protections such as over-charge, over-discharge, over-current, short-circuit, and temperature protection. The battery operates quietly without moving parts and requires minimal maintenance over its service life. Its scalable architecture makes it suitable for phased energy upgrades, allowing homeowners to start with a base capacity and expand later as energy consumption grows, electric vehicles are added, or additional solar panels are installed.
